A Christmas Theme

In stable bare on darkest night
Our Saviour first saw earthly light
Then shepherds from the hills above
Came down to pledge undying love

From the East the Magi came
With gifts they praised His holy name
Frankincense and Myrrh and Gold
As prophecy had long foretold

Then Joseph in a dream did see
That he from Herod`s wrath must flee
To Egypt’s land they had to fly
Till the cruel king did die

A carpenter our Lord began
He worked beside the common man
And from their midst twelve men did choose
To spread abroad His Father’s news

The lame, the blind, the poor, the meek
They all did then the Saviour seek
None of them He turned away
He cured, forgave , Kind words did say

Now we who claim Him as our King
And with our mouths His praises sing
Let us not earthly riches seek
But like our Lord work with the meek
